What can you do with two rehearsals, 207 volunteers, and a rotunda?
On Sunday August 22, volunteers ranging in age from 7 to 70 years old, coming from as far north as St. Cloud and as far south at Marshalltown, IA, performed a Flash Mob dance number in the Best Buy Rotunda at Mall of America to promote Chanhassen Dinner Theatre's production of ALL SHOOK UP. The performance was choreographed by Tamara Kangas-Erickson, featured several ALL SHOOK UP cast members plus over 200 volunteers, and had just two rehearsals at Chanhassen and Chaska High Schools.

Wow
Holy crap that's impressive for just 2 rehearsals with so many people. Repetition and group ABC teaching methods aside, I'm a "dancer" and I don't know if I could have pulled this off. awesome awesome job!!!!!
How often does Chanhassen do this for their musicals?
Flash Mobbing
It was so much fun (and a lot of work) to bring 200+ people together in one location (twice) for two hours each time. We haven't done anything of this magnitude before. We did a STARKID large dance number in the finale of our "Footloose" production earlier this year. That included nearly 100 teens and two rehearsals. Tamara Kangas Erickson choreographed both of these mini "productions."
