Dovetail Theatre Company

We formed Dovetail in 2011 in Minneapolis, MN by David Darrow and Kara Davidson. Both founders are former Acting Apprentices at the Actors Theatre of Louisville. Our Mission: to foster new and innovative work through imaginative story-telling and an ensemble-based creative process; To make going to the theater an affordable possibility for everyone; To cultivate a diverse and engaged audience; To encourage deviation from traditional theatrical conventions. Our name comes from the woodworking term describing a type of joint in which two sides of a structure/object are combined using alternating “pins and tails.” The result is a bond of uncommon strength and elegance. We believe in the collaborative spirit of the theater and that the quality of art increases as disciplines and influences are considered. We hope our work will be a reflection of this ideology.
