A Popular Play Starring Women
Presented by Alan Berks & Company
Cast and CrewTracey MaloneyAnna Sundberg Barbara Kingsley Christiana Clark Director: Leah Cooper |
ConceptIn the tradition of Steel Magnolias and Five Women Sharing the Same Dress, this is the one idea for a play I have that I actually think might make money. I don't even want to reveal the idea for the plot that I actually have; it's so simple and such a cool set-up and just needs to get written. If it helps your vote, without knowing the plot, just imagine whatever 4 other actress you want in those roles. Off the top of my head, I can think of 3 other complete local casts I would adore. Just imagine a meaty play for 4 women with some variety in ages, directed by Leah Cooper. |
Disney's NEWSIES, THE MUSICAL
Presented by Populism, Yeah Yeah
Cast and CrewJack Kelly: Ryan McCartanCrutchy: Brian Skellenger Pulitzer: Alan Sorenson Teddy Roosevelt: Reed Sigmund Medda: Ann Michels |
ConceptDisney's NEWSIES, THE MUSICAL recently had its world premiere at Paper MIll Playhouse in New Jersey. It's still in development, and has its sights set on Broadway, but I think a local production could give the East Coast version a run for its money. (In wracking my brain to decide who to cast as Jack Kelly, I was looking for someone with a booming voice and wide range, boyish yet masculine charm, and who could believably play a 17 year old. I didn't happen to see Ryan McCartan at this year's Ivey's, but anyone following his work as a young actor at the Guthrie, CTC, and elsewhere through the years knows that he'd be more than up to the challenge.) |
