Danger! Will/Robinson - Guffaw (Minnesota's premier(e) comedy publication) review

I feel I must initially say, before anything else: this is not a science fiction comedy show... But let me also say: the creators are named Josh Will and Jim Robinson. Not even “Josh Williams” or “Josh Willis.” It is literally Will Robinson. You never get that kind of awesome name pairing...

And oh yeah, there are musical numbers. A few of them. As someone who cringes at musicals, I was surprised to find myself thinking, “Well done, cast!” The ladies (who totally steal the show, by the way) can sing like motherfuckers.* I’m not one to dictate what does or does not belong in a sketch comedy show, but these songs did not make me want to induce vomiting to demonstrate my hatred. In fact, I wanted to clap for them! But I didn’t because I was the only one in the audience, and I felt awkward.

As far as the sketches themselves go, the best advice I can give you is to pay attention...the jokes are writerly and almost overly witty and can fly by with the relatively fast pace of the scenes. But they are worth appreciating and savoring (if that is even possible or a thing people do).

But above all: these sketches won’t leave you feeling lost in space. You will feel like robbin’ some people to pay for your ticket. This is no major West Coast production, but you will the robot enjoy yourself!

*I believe the motherfucker is a kind of bird that sings well.
